Coconut water manufacturer Zola is revamping its packaging, cleaning-up its ingredient decks and launching a new flavor this summer to better underscore the functional benefits of its products at a time when many consumers are demanding more from their beverages that just quenching thirst.

said Pete Brennan, Zola’s chief growth officer.

He explained to FoodNavigator-USA that the answer was to better showcase through package design the functional benefits of coconut water and the other star ingredients in the brand’s portfolio, which includes coconut water with pulp, espresso or chocolate in addition to its original flavor and its new pineapple juice blend.

 Brennan said.

To do this, the company settled on a streamlined design centered on the concept of Brennan said, adding this

He explained that main icon at the top of the package’s front panel depicts

Icons running down the side panel reinforce these messages and the company’s values, representing the organic certification, Kosher, gluten free, GMO free, and recyclable.

Cleaner, vegan ingredients

The imagery on the package also quickly tells consumers that the product is vegan – a declaration that required the company to reformulate its chocolate and espresso coconut waters.

Brennan explains that the chocolate and espresso coconut waters had a to help deliver a creamier mouth feel. But in order to be the company swapped the dairy out for coconut milk, making the product vegan.

It also dropped carrageenan after learning from consumers that this was an ingredient that gave many people pause, Brennan said. He explained the carrageenan was used to help suspend the real cocoa and espresso powders used in the two coconut waters. Without it, consumers might need to give the products a before they drink the beverages, he said.

Pineapple could attract new users

Zola also hopes to bring new consumers to the coconut water category by launching a coconut water and pineapple juice blend that is more approachable and palatable to new users.

 Brennan said.

Ultimately, Brennan sees these changes as just the beginning of the coconut water category’s next phase, which will focus on hydration, antioxidants, nutrition and other functional benefits.

FAO in emergencies app

Natural disasters can destroy lives and wipe out years of development in a matter of hours or even seconds. Populations around the world are increasingly exposed to natural hazards ( drought , Ron Hami Sapphire Climber Earrings in 14K Gold Nk0iLEDerO
, hurricanes , Konstantino Pink Tourmaline amp; Pink Crystal Quartz Over Sapphire Ring FOAqrkX
, disease epidemics, etc.), to man-made crises (socio-economic shocks, Walters Faith Keynes 18K Signature All Diamond Hexagon Stackable Ring Silver MfSggaJ
, etc.) and to protracted crises ( complex , prolonged emergencies that combine two or more aspects of the above-mentioned crises).

The 4 pillars of FAO's resilience strategy

People who rely on agriculture for their livelihoods are often the worst affected when a crisis or a disaster strikes, potentially putting their food and nutrition security at serious risk.

FAO is working towards increasing the resilience of people and their livelihoods to these threats and crises. For this purpose, FAO defines resilience as:

"The ability to prevent disasters and crises as well as to anticipate, absorb, accommodate or recover from them in a timely, efficient and sustainable manner. This includes protecting, restoring and improving livelihoods systems in the face of threats that impact agriculture, nutrition, food security and food safety."

In other words, resilience is the ability of people, communities or systems that are confronted by disasters or crises to withstand damage and to recover rapidly .

Therefore, we seek to develop the capacities of families, communities and institutions to protect people and their livelihoods, through measures to avoid (prevention) or limit (mitigation and preparedness) the adverse effects of hazards and to provide timely and reliable hazard forecasts. This is called Disaster Risk Reduction ( DRR ), or to simplify: The prevention and mitigation of, and preparedness for, disasters, within the broader concept of sustainable development.

FAO’s resilience strategy is based on four pillars:

In January 2005, 168 Governments adopted a 10-year plan to make the world safer from natural hazards at the World Conference on Disaster Reduction , held in Kobe, Hyogo, Japan. The Hyogo Framework for Action 2005-2015 : Building the Resilience of Nations and Communities to disasters, offers guiding principles, priorities for action and practical means for achieving disaster resilience for vulnerable communities.

It also called on the international community to end Israel's occupation and guarantee the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the right to self-determination and establish an independent country, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The country's statement was made during a speech by Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, Permanent Representative of the UAE to the UN in Geneva, at the 38th session of the Human Rights Council, which witnessed a general discussion on the state of human rights in Palestine and other occupied Arab lands.

Al Zaabi highlighted Security Council Resolution No. 2334 for 2016, which asserts that Israel's policy of settlement expansion in occupied Palestinian areas since 1967, including East Jerusalem, has no legal basis, is a stark violation of international law, and is a major obstacle to creating two states that can live together in peace and security. Two years after the resolution was issued, the wall is still continuing to be built and the number of settlements is increasing while the two-state solution has disappeared, even before it was discussed, he added.

Al Zaabi called on the council to face its responsibilities to uphold resolutions and the reports of special rapporteurs and investigation committees, as well as to enforce its mandate to end Israel's injustices and its construction of settlements, which are the symbol of Israel's continuing occupation and hinders the efforts of peace initiatives.

He also noted the latest report of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, OCHA, which points out that since 1967, around 250 Israeli settlements and outposts were established in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, which led to the loss of properties and sources of income while the attacks of Israeli settlers against Palestinians were encouraged by the lack of any international accountability.

The UAE announced, during the Jerusalem Summit in Dhahran in April 2018, that it is offering two bundles of assistance to support the Palestinian people, with the first being valued at $20 million, which will be allocated to programmes that support Islamic endowments in Jerusalem while the second, which is valued at $50 million, will be given to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, or UNRWA, Al Zaabi said in conclusion.

There are cold spells, and then there's what happened to the Houston Rockets during Game 7 of the Western Conference finals against the Golden State Warriors.

If you thought to yourself, "man, it seems like it's been a while since the Rockets made a 3-pointer," you were absolutely right. The Rockets missed an playoff record 27 consecutive 3-pointers from the second quarter to the fourth quarter. They didn't make a single 3 in the third quarter.

After missing TWENTY SEVEN consecutive threes, the Rockets have hit from deep!
